Industry consortium will drive jobs

19 May 2017

The State Government’s new Tourism Industry Engagement Consortium will enable industry and Government to work together to create tourism jobs, said Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall.

“The tourism industry has long sought an avenue for ongoing high level engagement with senior Ministers and officials,” Mr Hall said.

“High level engagement across Ministers and Agency Heads is critical to developing an agenda for tourism jobs growth.”

Mr Hall said today’s consortium, and the Government’s $425 million tourism election commitment, demonstrated the Government’s strong focus on developing tourism to diversify the state economy and create jobs.

“Driving jobs through effective destination marketing and private investment in tourism experiences will be the industry’s key issues for discussion today,” he said.

“The industry is delighted that tourism is the first industry consortium to be convened by the Government.”
