Tourism Council WA has welcomed the $1.2 million co-operative marketing agreement that was signed today by the West Australian State Government and Qatar Airways.
The joint marketing initiative will concentrate on increasing visitation to WA by traditional European markets especially focusing on the United Kingdom and Germany.
Tourism Council WA Chief Executive Officer Evan Hall said “it is great opportunity to promote WA to our traditional markets while also pursing new markets such as China.”
“Qatar Airways has a fantastic customer base from nearly 120 destinations and they are the perfect partner to market WA to world” said Mr Hall.
The inaugural flight of Qatar Airways from Doha arrived in Perth yesterday afternoon which commenced the delivery of three non-stop flights between Doha and Perth each week which will improve access across Europe, Middle East, Africa and America.
“Western Australia has a lot to offer and if the government invests in marketing our great state then the visitors will turn up especially when access becomes easier” said Mr Hall.
Tourism Council WA has applauded Perth Airport, Tourism Western Australia and Tourism Australia for securing the Qatar Airways direct flights.
