Tourism Council WA has welcomed the State Government’s new multi-million-dollar intrastate marketing campaign which calls on Western Australians to support the tourism industry by exploring their own backyard.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said with the low Australian dollar and coronavirus impact, it was a prime time for Western Australians to holiday in WA and support the local businesses, communities and jobs which rely on tourism.
“With all the uncertainty around coronavirus, insurance, safety and travel restrictions, it really is the best time to holiday in WA,” Mr Hall said.
Following Tourism Council WA’s successful Holiday in WA campaign, which has been active since November, the State Government will now be encouraging Western Australians to holiday at home through its ‘Do it in WA’ campaign. Award-winning and Quality Tourism Accredited Businesses will be featured prominently in the new campaign.
“Western Australia has high health, safety, employment and environmental standards, providing a high-value, quality experience for all,” Mr Hall said.
“By booking with Quality Tourism Accredited Businesses, Western Australians can be assured of a genuine, high-quality tourism business meeting all the standards they expect.”
The State Government’s multi-million-dollar marketing campaign follows successful advocacy by Tourism Council WA for increased domestic marketing to support tourism businesses and destinations by attracting replacement visitors.
