30 April 2024

The public can have its say from today in which destinations are crowned WA’s Top, Small and Tiny Tourism Towns, with voting now open in the 2024 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards.

Nineteen towns from across Western Australia have been named finalists across three categories in the highly coveted Awards program. From 9am today the public can vote online for their favourite town or city and go into the draw to win a $5,000 holiday in Western Australia or a 2-night stay at RAC Karri Valley Resort.

The finalists in this year’s 7NEWS Top Tourism Town category are:

  • Busselton
  • Collie
  • Geraldton
  • Kalgoorlie-Boulder
  • Newman

The finalists in the 7NEWS Small Tourism Town category are:

  • Carnarvon
  • Christmas Island
  • Exmouth
  • Tom Price
  • Toodyay
  • York

The finalists in the 7NEWS Tiny Tourism Town category are:

  • Coral Bay

Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall encouraged the public to get behind their favourite holiday destination.

“The 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards gives us all the opportunity to reward towns for the way they care for their visitors, so it’s a great way to say thank you to the places we love to visit,” Mr Hall said.

“It could be a town you’ve recently discovered, but where you felt incredibly welcomed in your time there – or it could be the place you visit every year because you always have a fantastic experience. This is your chance to have your say.”

The public vote is combined with votes from an industry panel of judges to decide which destinations will receive the titles of Top Tourism Town, Small Tourism Town and Tiny Tourism Town. The winning destinations will go into a National competition against winners from other States for the chance to be named Australia’s Top Tourism Town, Small Tourism Town or Tiny Tourism Town.

The winner in the 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Award will receive a $20,000 airtime package to promote their town on regional television, with the winner of the 7NEWS Small Tourism Town Award picking up a $10,000 airtime package and the 7NEWS Tiny Tourism Town winner receiving a $5,000 package.

The Awards are run by Tourism Council WA and Visitor Centres WA, and are supported by 7NEWS, Vanguard Media Group, Tourism WA and RAC Parks & Resorts. Award winners will be announced at the 2024 Perth Airport WA Tourism Conference Dinner in Mandurah on June 11.

Visit to review the finalists and vote. Voting closes 5pm, May 22.
