Hop-on, Hop-off City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Tour

Wednesday, May 17, 9.00am – 4.00pm

This tour, included for all delegates, has been designed specifically to showcase the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to conference attendees.

There will be six loops of the route to give delegates time to look and spend as much time as they like in each location, with activities available at each stop hosted by local operators and personalities.

Showcases the rich history of the Eastern Goldfields and the city’s mining heritage. Discover the unique role the town has played in WA’s development, both as a centre of mining and its place at the edge of the Nullarbor Plain. 

Make the most of the allocated time by joining one of our knowledgeable guides on a tour of the Museum’s highlights.

From the Aboriginal history of Our Place to the spectacular collection in our underground Gold Vault, this tour will let guests see the stories of the Goldfields in a new light.

Art in the Heart of the Kalgoorlie CBD, is all about enlivening the Central Business District with vibrant and contemporary murals by Australian Artists from the Goldfields and beyond.

Take a short walk with a local artist to visit these amazing selected murals.

Duration of this experience is 45 minutes.

Take your time to explore above ground at and discover the secrets of gold rush history and modern-day mining in the Goldfields.

Listen to Paddy Hannan tell his tale of discovery, delegates can find a fortune panning for gold. See how miners of the 1890’s lived and worked giving a feel of how tough life was.

Last but not least, climb aboard modern-day mining machinery - a giant 793C haul truck, stand in the
shovel of a 994F loader.

Duration of this site visit is approximately 55 minutes.

 

 

Goldfields Golf Course- Driving Range

Whether delegates are a first timer, beginner or an avid golfer trying to hone their skills, the Kalgoorlie Golf Club’s driving range is the perfect place to try.

Grab a cart from the club house and head up to the range where delegates will be greeted by a local golf pro to assist delegates in hitting a bucket of balls.

The Golf Course is a premier, 18-hole grass golf course designed by top course designer Graham Marsh and is currently ranked #18 in Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Courses.

Historic Burt Street

The main street of Boulder, offers a window into the past with heritage buildings lining the streets, each with a story to tell.

Walk historic Burt Street on this short guided walking tour and see the quaint street from a different perspective; the early 1900s. Admire the architecture, read the stories and marvel at the photos that have been sourced.

In April 2010, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck Boulder, devastating a lot of the old buildings in Burt Street. The local council and State Government spent more than $8 million to restore the buildings and the facades.

Historic Burt Street is now a hive of activity again, with several cafés, coffee shops and speciality stores lining the street, as well as the iconic Boulder Town Hall, popular pubs and restaurants.

Super Pit Lookout

One of the most popular attractions in the Goldfields, the Super Pit Lookout draws thousands of locals and tourists each year.

The opportunity to view a working mine site in action and the chance of watching a blast keep the Lookout firmly on the local must do list.

The first Super Pit Lookout was a fenced area with a small viewing platform constructed 100m south of the original Hainault Tourist Mine, near the Boulder Block.

Over the years the Lookout has been moved to accommodate the changing size of the mine.
