Tourism is a complex industry that involves a broad range of businesses, organisations and government agencies. They work together at different levels to deliver a complete tourism package. Each party in the chain contributes to the overall holiday experience of the customer - from initial destination marketing through to the ground level experience.
Each state and territory within Australia has its own government tourism agency which works to promote Australia as a tourism destination internationally. Within each state and territory there are a number of other organisations, such as Regional Tourism Organisations and Visitor Centres who work with the local tourism industry, as well as local governments and state organisations which develop and market tourism in their local area.
