The latest results from Tourism Council WA's Travellers' Intentions Survey showed the number of Western Australians intending to travel in WA over the next six months decreased by 7 per cent to 64 per cent compared with the start of Autumn last year.
Forecast growth in intrastate demand was similar for most regions, however the forecast for some regional towns showed notable decline including Kalbarri.
In terms of transport, flights and rail showed a notable increase in forecast demand from Western Australian visitors. Attractions including water parks, wildlife parks and discovery centres experienced a 5 per cent decrease compared with the same time last year.
Most accommodation types showed little fluctuation, but hotel, motel and resorts along with Airbnb or similar short stay residential accommodation noted a forecasted increase in the next six months. More Western Australians have already booked a trip in WA in the next six months, noting a 7 per cent increase compared with Autumn 2024.
