The Individual Categories in the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards recognise individual excellence of those employed in the WA tourism industry.

Categories

There are six categories in the Individual Awards program:

FACET GOLDEN GUIDE AWARD

This category recognises the significant contribution quality tour guides make in providing memorable experiences to visitors through interpretation of the natural and cultural environment in a responsible manner. Eligibility includes tour guides and coach captains working in the natural, cultural and heritage environments, in either a paid or volunteer capacity.

INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE BY A TOURISM PROFESSIONAL (NEW)

This Award recognises an individual who demonstrates excellence and innovation in their professional work, as well as making a positive contribution to the tourism industry outside their paid employment. This category is suited to anyone working in a tourism business in a senior management position such as in marketing, sales, finance or revenue, operations, hotel management or Visitor Centre management (excluding business owners).

INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE IN ABORIGINAL TOURISM

This Award is for an individual who demonstrates an ongoing commitment to excellence in Aborig

inal tourism through storytelling, culture sharing and the development of Aboriginal tourism businesses and the broader industry.

INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE

This Award is for an individual who demonstrates outstanding, high-quality, personable customer service in the course of their employment in the WA tourism industry.

LOCAL TOURISM LEGEND (NEW)

This Award is for an individual who has made a significant contribution to the tourism industry in their local destination or region (which can include metropolitan or regional destinations) above and beyond their paid employment or business activities over a period of years.

SIR DAVID BRAND YOUNG ACHIEVER MEDAL 

This medal is awarded to a person under the age of 30 working in the tourism industry. The winner will demonstrate an ongoing contribution to the positive image of tourism in WA.

  2. Entrants will be measured against a benchmark, which fosters personal development and growth.
     
  3. Nominees will be provided with valuable and in-depth feedback by seasoned judges who are leaders in the industry, driving self-improvement which will benefit both themselves and their employer.
     
  4. The awards provide tourism business owners and operators the opportunity to make their staff feel valued and appreciated, with nominees able to publicly showcase their commitment to providing a high-quality tourism experience to customers.
     
  5. Creates a space for self-reflection for the role the individual plays in the WA tourism industry.

Important Dates

  • Nominations open - Wednesday, 11 December 2024
  • Nominations close - Thursday, 20 February 2025
  • Submissions due - 11 March 2025
  • Finalist interviews - April-May 2025
  • Winners announced - Wednesday, 28 May 2025

Important Information

  • Nominations are made through the Quality Tourism Framework. A nomination should be made under the account of the business the nominee is employed by, although the nomination can be made by the nominee or someone else within the same company. 
  • Submissions are completed within the Quality Tourism Framework. The submission can be written by the person nominated or by a nominator. A reference letter is required as part of the nomination process. 
  • The nominee must be an employee of an accredited Tourism Council WA member.
  • The submission should focus on activities which took place in the 2024 calendar year (except for Local Tourism Legend).
  • There is a non-refundable entry fee of $100 plus GST to enter each category.

How to Nominate

  • For Accredited businesses, visit the Quality Tourism Framework and log into your existing account. If you do not have an account, please send us an email.
  • Once logged in, click "Nominate" in the top right corner. 
  • Fill out your details and follow the prompts. 
  • Review the details, click Pay Now and follow the prompts. Payment can be made via credit card at the time of nomination, or an invoice can be issued for later payment.
  • Once your nomination has been completed, TCWA will contact you with further information to complete your submission.
