The 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards recognise and reward towns in Western Australia that demonstrate a strong commitment to encouraging tourism and increasing visitation to their destination.

Categories

There are three categories:

7NEWS TOP TOURISM TOWN AWARD – Population over 5,000 people.
7NEWS SMALL TOURISM TOWN AWARD – Population between 1,500 and 5,000 people.
7NEWS TINY TOURISM TOWN AWARD - Population below 1,500 people.

Steps to enter the 2026 7NEWS Top Tourism Town Awards

  1. Read the information pack to find out everything you need to know about entering.
  2. Nominate your town via the Quality Tourism Framework by 5pm Thursday 19 February 2026. See How to Nominate section for detailed instructions. 
  3. Complete the online submission form sections: Media & Promotional, Website, Overview and Marketing.
  4. Prepare and upload your Video, Editorial Article and Visitor Itinerary.
  5. Select local attractions and accommodation to include in your submission — these contribute to the consumer review component of your score. See the FAQs for more information.
  6. Finalise your submission by 5pm Tuesday 10 March 2026.

How to Nominate

  • For Accredited Visitor Centres or Local Governments, visit the Quality Tourism Framework and log into your existing account. If you do not have an account, please send us an email.
  • Once logged in, click "Nominate" in the top right corner. 
  • Fill out your details and follow the prompts. 
  • Review the details, click Pay Now and follow the prompts. Payment can be made via credit card at the time of nomination, or an invoice can be issued for later payment.
  • Once your nomination has been completed, TCWA will contact you with further information to complete your submission.

  1. Receive recognition for your commitment to tourism, destination development and providing high-quality visitor experiences.
     
  2. Showcase your local community and the individuals and businesses who make it a great place to visit, live and work.
     
  3. Increase public awareness of your town as a tourism destination through the public voting process and marketing benefits provided to winning towns including a Storytowns audio guide and 7News advertising package.
     
  4. Receive valuable and in-depth feedback on your town’s award submission from experienced industry leaders.
     
  5. Represent WA on the National stage in Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards.

Important Dates

  • Nominations open - 13 November 2025
  • Nominations close - Thursday, 19 February 2026
  • Submissions due - Tuesday, 10 March 2026
  • Consumer voting period - Thursday, 2 April 2026 - Friday, 1 May 2026
  • Winners announced - Tuesday, 26 May 2026

Important Information

  • Nominations are open to any city or town, specifically relating to geographical towns and population centres, not Local Government Areas.
  • The nomination can be made by a Golden i (accredited) Visitor Information Centre or a Local Council.
  • A Visitor Centre may nominate multiple towns within its catchment should a nearby town not have a traditional Visitor Centre.
  • Census data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics should be used to determine the most suitable category for entry.
  • The entry fee for Tourism Council WA members is $250 plus GST per entry/town.

  • Townscape audio feature or a $3,000 credit towards a self-driving, walking, or transport tour with Storytowns
  • On-air acknowledgement
  • Electronic logo
  • Framed certificate
  • The winner will become a finalist in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards

7NEWS Small Tourism Town Award winner will receive:

  • $10,000 advertising prize package provided by Seven West Media (WA)
  • Townscape audio feature or a $3,000 credit towards a self-driving, walking, or transport tour with Storytowns
  • On-air acknowledgement
  • Electronic logo
  • Framed certificate
  • The winner will become a finalist in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards

7NEWS Tiny Tourism Town Award winner will receive:

  • $5,000 advertising prize package provided by Seven West Media (WA)
  • Townscape audio feature or a $3,000 credit towards a self-driving, walking, or transport tour with Storytowns
  • On-air acknowledgement
  • Electronic logo
  • Framed certificate
  • The winner will become a finalist in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards

The Silver and Bronze winners in each category will receive a framed certificate.
