Tourism’s Best Recognised at Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards

10 November 2018

Western Australia’s leading tourism operators have been recognised for their innovation and commitment to excellence at the industry’s premier awards ceremony, the 2018 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, at Crown Perth tonight.

Now in its 46th year, the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards continuously attracts entries from tourism businesses from across WA, ranging from large operators through to small, family-run businesses.

“Western Australia has such a diverse range of tourism businesses, which is reflected in the entrants and medallists in the Awards program,” Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said.

“Each and every year, the judges are impressed by the commitment to continuous innovation and improvement displayed by entrants – a testament to the great work being done by tourism operators, big and small.”

The Awards ceremony culminated in the presentation of the industry’s highest business accolade, the Sir David Brand Award for Tourism, presented to Kimberley Wild Expeditions for displaying exceptional business development, including redeveloping an old accommodation property in Broome to provide a welcoming base for guests, working with local Aboriginal operators to develop independent tourism initiatives, and facilitating business with fellow operators.

The Awards are made possible by the continual support of several sponsors, particularly Principal Sponsor Perth Airport.

“In acknowledgement of the importance of tourism in Western Australia and its contribution to our State’s economy, we are proud to once again be the naming right sponsor of the 2018 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards,” Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown said.

“As Australia’s Western Hub, Perth Airport connects the world to the amazing experiences that this State has to offer. We are proud to recognise the dedication and commitment of the businesses who create the services and products that continue to bring people to Western Australia now and into the future.

“My hope is that the great products being recognised will inspire others to bring new products into the market to boost our tourism offering.”

The gold medallists in categories 1 to 25 will go on to represent Western Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, being held in Launceston on March 1, 2019.
